Dr Cheng was invited to speak to The Queensland Radiation Oncology Training Group where he discussed breast reconstruction options for women diagnosed with breast cancer. In Australia only 13% of women who undergo mastectomy go on to have a breast reconstruction. Often women are simply not aware of all their options and never have an opportunity to speak to a plastic surgeon. Treating women with breast cancer takes a strong multidisciplinary team and this morning was a wonderful opportunity to share that knowledge across the disciplines to improve the outcomes for women and men with breast cancer.
