Can I access my superannuation early for plastic surgery?

In regards to superannuation, applications for compassionate release of  superannuation may be considered by the Australian Taxation Office in cases of chronic or acute pain and/or on compassionate grounds (access ATO application form here). Approval generally applies to procedures whereby there is substantial ongoing pain and discomfort such as breast reconstruction, post weight loss surgery such as tummy tuck and body lift, and breast reductions. Please note that our office must receive your completed early release of superannuation application form with completed GP report and surgical deposit for surgery prior to Dr Cheng completing the specialist report.  You can learn more about the  about how to apply for release of super on compassionate grounds here.

How long will it take for my super to be released once I have applied?

It can take 14 to 28 days to process your application depending on how you applied.  Online applications will be quicker and take approximately 14 days to process and determine your eligibility. You will receive an SMS reminder once the outcome has been determined and letter will be in your mygov app regarding the final decision.

Credit Card transfers

An alternate option is to use an existing credit card for payment of your treatment and then apply to a banking facility offering extended interest-free credit card transfer.

These offers are generally extended over 15 to 24 months. However, it is important that you do check with your banking facility.

Credit card payments

Credit card payment is available. We accept visa, MasterCard, and Amex in rooms and via our Commonwealth bank Bpoint facility online for your convenience. We're pleased to advise that no transaction fees are passed on to our patients when they use this facility. Both direct debit and credit card BPAY options are also available for existing patients. Bpay biller and reference codes can be found on your estimate of fees or invoice
